High Flight

High Flight

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of—wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

John Gillespie Magee, Jr

I took this picture on one of my trips to
Florida. I was above these low clouds looking
for some smooth air.

I must be getting old. I posted this picture and
poem last year. My next birthday I will be 70.
That is a bit hard to believe but it's true. If
you live long enough you will reach this age.
Once you get flying in your blood it's hard to
get it out.

Don't leave home without it

This medallion is the Phoenix. Unless
you are the Phoenix and can raise yourself
from the ashes then you need one of these
little equalizers when you leave home. Lots
of young ladies seem to take their brains
out of their heads and go out walking or
jogging on lonely trails or roads by themselves.
That is beyond dumb in this age.

This little piece is a 22 magnum and
will stop almost anything alive. It
will pass through a flak jacket or
so I've have been told by a state trooper.
I paid about $200 for it. It's probably
a bit more now. You can save the state
a lot of money for search and rescue
if you have it on you when you go jogging.
It's a good way to take out a perpetrator.
No court cost or jail time required.

The 22 magnum is a small pistol and
will fit in your pocket. Easy to get
to when you need it. You can also
chamber a couple of bird shot shells
for dogs if you need to. Great little
equalizer. You will need a carry permit
to carry any of these weapons even tho
the US Constitution says you can carry.
Seems redundant to me.

This little gun is one of my favorites.
It is always in my pocket. It shoots a
22 short so doesn't have a lot of stopping
power but it will get your attention long
enough for me to finish the job with my
knuckles. I don't leave home without it.

This derringer is my latest acquisition.
It shoots two 410 shotgun shells or two
45 colt shells. It is a very powerful
gun that hurts your hand when you shoot
it but will stop anything. No worries.
I let cloudhands shoot it to see if she
could handle it. She did great. You read
about young ladies being attacked almost
daily. I would love to see them packing
heat when they are alone. There are age
limits for carrying weapons. You need to
be 18 or older to protect yourself with
a firearm. If you are younger hire a
bodyguard or stay home. I know there are
folks out there that don't want you to
protect yourself but I try my best to
ignore them. They do need to know that
I will have at least one of these weapons
on me at ALL times. I have little tolerance
for people who want me to lay down and die.
I'm getting older and I can still protect
myself with my knuckles but I am getting
a bit lazy so I will use one of these weapons,
maybe all three to save myself from exertion.
