FORGIVE YOURSELF

We had a burning bowl service in church Sunday.
That means we wrote something on a piece of
paper that we wanted to get rid of in the new year.
I wrote that I wanted to get rid of 30 lbs of fat in
the first two months of 2009. I put that note in the
burn pot and let it go. SO I should be 30lbs lighter
in a couple of months. After we burned our notes
we marched back into the church, and as we went
back into the sanctuary we reached into a box
that had Angel cards with a message on it for
us. The message that I got was "Forgive Yourself".
WOW how important is that. If we can't forgive
ourselves then how can we expect others to forgive
us. If we can forgive ourselves then it doesn't matter
if others can forgive us. There are times when I
feel I need forgiveness for just being alive. I have
done things that I am not proud of and need
forgiveness for. I learned a while ago that you
can't change the past so forgiveness may be the
only option. If you can forgive yourself then you
don't have to change the past. The past is just
a memory that doesn't control your "NOW" or
your "FUTURE". If you can't forgive, then how
can you be forgiven. I FORGIVE YOU AND ME.

Global Comedians

I don't know where to start with this post
the environdummies are at it again and
the vote count in Minn. has gone pretty
much as I expected for Al Franken. Votes
just seem to show up when Al needs them.
Who knows where they came from. Some
probably came from the graveyard. Some
are probably just duplicates of previous
votes. Vote soon and vote often as the
democrats are famous for saying. So it
looks like Minnesota will have a comedian
for a senator. They probably deserve it.

The environdummies must be comedians
also. They are now saying that the fact
that the earth is cooling is proof that the
earth is warming at a faster rate than
previously suspected. What kind of
nonsense is that. The earth has been
cooling for some time now and some of
the weather scientist are predicting that
we are going into a new small ice age.
Just last week it was reported that there
are over 600 scientist who use to believe
in global warming now do not. These are
scientist that use to agree with the UN.
As I have said before, global warming is
a huge SCAM just to get more tax dollars.

Corruption Is Back

It has been fun watching the democrats squirming
over the corruption that is going on in Illinois
with the Governor. Obama said his administration
would be transparent but he doesn't want to talk
about the problems in Illinois. I expected these
kind of problems with this group of Chicago
politicians. I am afraid it's going to be hard
to keep the corruption out of the White House.

Old Timers

There are some benefits to growing older besides
avoiding the obvious alternative of not growing
older. For one thing we proved that we were wrong
when we were 18 and thought we knew it all. So
you 18 year old folks remember that the next time
you think you know more than your parents. The
time will come if you live long enough that you will
know better.

Old folks have seen a lot of stuff in their lifetime
and know what to worry about and what not to
worry about. When I was younger I didn't worry
too much about being attacked because I could
handle myself pretty good. Now that I am older
and not quite as physically able I still don't worry
about being attacked. I am good friends with
Smith&Wesson 38cal. Same result as when I
was younger just a lot less work. We old folks
are always looking for less work. So don't make
the mistake of thinking an old person is
defenseless.

One thing that I enjoy, being a more mature
individual is just sitting back and watching people
do their thing. I can usually tell how things will turn
out if they keep doing what they are doing because
I have seen it before. Some folks don't know that
if you keep doing the same thing over and over that
you will get the same result each time. But as they
grow older they will do that less and less and
finally realize that there is another way.

Well that's all for today. I was tired of politics
so I just wrote some random thoughts that was
floating around inside my oversized.. oops I mean
my old brain. Socratease8

Herd Mentality

I have often wondered what it is in the human
animal that requires them to run in herds. This
herd mentality was never more evident than
this Black Friday in Valley Stream on Long
Island in New York. A worker in the Wal-Mart
store was crushed to death by the herd as
they rushed into the store to save a few bucks
on items that the store had on sell. I have
never been able to understand people who will
camp out in the cold for several hours just
to be the first into the store and maybe have
a chance to beat someone else to an item to
save a few bucks.

This mentality was also evident during the
presidential election. Lots of folks wanted to
be on the band wagon to vote for the first
black candidate even tho he was vastly lacking
in qualifications for that office. We may pay a
dear price for electing Obama. We may also get
lucky and get through his administration with
minimal damage. He might even do OK. He has
forgotten about the change that he promised.
We've got a bunch of tired ol democrats who
will be advising him so there won't be much
change. I hope I'm wrong on this. Time will
tell. Socratease8.

Obama and Change--Climate Change

It's starting to look like Obama is going to
serve Bill Clinton's third term. I had really hoped
he meant it when he said he was going to change
Washington but I should have known better. He
lied to us about campaign finance and about his
association with Bill Ayers and others. It looks
like his cabinet will be a bunch of old democrats
and Bill Clinton has beens. Most will be Washington
insiders. I lost a lot of money during Clintons
last couple of years in office. One of my pension
funds dropped over $100,000 in less than a year.
That was a real bummer.

Obama seems to believe in the climate change scam.
This will give him a chance to raise our taxes
to cover our carbon footprint. We will have to
pay a carbon tax in order to barbecue hamburgers
and such on our grills. That is already being
done in some country's. He may try to take our
guns so we have no protection. There is a lot
of other things about Obama that I don't like.
I hope I am wrong about these things. Socratease8

Global WARMING

The Global Warming Alarmist are at it again.
This last October was suppose to be the warmest
ever. Not a true story. The facts got in the way of
a good story again. This October was number 70
in the last 114 years as the hottest October. Dang
those facts. The Arctic Sea ice is 30% ahead of
last year in re-freezing. Dang those facts again.
Al Gore is not a hero. He is an alarmist with an
agenda. He is also not a really smart man in my
opinion.

Here is a site to read what is the truth if you are
interested.

Post Election

I'm glad this election is over. I hope this is
the last election for McCain. The only good that
came out of this election is we got to meet
Sarah Palin. I hope she runs for president in
2012. By then we should be tired of Obama.

McCain's staff and maybe even McCain himself
are trying to trash Sarah and blame her for
their loss. I'm not buying it. McCain may be
the worse candidate that I have ever seen. I
didn't like him from the start. I like him
even less now. We need to get behind Obama
now and try to help him be a good President.
That's a tuff order. Socratease8

Voting??

I arrived at my polling place this morning
at 8AM and was told that the polls did not
open till 9AM. This county is run by democrats
so I should have known better. Anyway to
discourage real Americans from voting. Look
how hard the democrats are making it for our
soldiers to vote. McCain has a law suit going
to allow the soldiers to vote. I hope it works.
Wouldn't it be nice if we had a country where
every vote counted and every vote was legit.
No dead people or illegals voting. If Obama
wins this election, it's going to get a lot
harder for legal Americans to vote. Socratease8

Election

One day away from the election and I still
don't have a clue who will win. As I have
said before I am not crazy for John McCain
but he is a lot better than Obama. I believe
that Obama will take the words of John F
Kennedy and reverse them to "Ask not what
you can do for your country but what your
country can do for you." He will try to spread
the wealth. It won't work but he will try it
anyway.

Obama is a slick talker and as Rush Limbaugh
has said "this guy can say nothing better than
anyone I have ever heard say nothing". He is
afraid to take responsibility for anything and
will vote "present" rather than vote the way
that he really feels. It is a shame that he will
represent the Black folks when there are
many who could do a much better job. He
will set the standard for his race and it will
take a long time to overcome the damage
that he will do to his race. Socratease8

Dirty Politics

I have been holding off posting on this election
again for a lot of reasons. At this point I don't
have a clue who is going to win. I'm also trying
to wrap my mind around the fact that the American
people are almost ready to give up the freedom
that they shed blood for and may have to again.
There has been a large increase in the sale of
firearms. This is interesting behavior in a
depressed economy. The threat of a bigger capital
gains tax is causing some folks who have large
sales pending to push ahead to try to beat the
tax increase that Obama has promised. My personal
opinion is that Obama will do serious damage to
the country if he is elected. There will be nobody
to stop him when he has total control with this
rotten congress that we have today. We may wake
up some morning and not recognize our country.
This is a good time for all true Americans to
get out and vote. Socratease8

The Right to Vote

It's starting to look like the right to vote
is going to be compromised by fraud in several
states. The democrats are trying to steal this
election even before it's started. 4000 dead
folks in one state are registered to vote.
This has happened before. The democrats don't
know how to have a fair election. They tried
to steal the vote in Florida in 2000 by
counting chads and indentations. The Supreme
Court had to stop that attempt. It looks like
they may have to do it again. The Secretary
of State in Ohio refuses to obey The law so
there may be 200,000 illegal votes in that
state. You would think that in a year when
the democrats have the advantage they would
play fair. It may take a long time to figure
who won the election. What a shame.

Obama reminds me of a 1950's used car
salesman. A good used car salesman could
sell you a car with 4 flat tires and make
you think you got a bargain. Obama is trying
to sell us an inferior product with his
slick talk. AND he wants to spread the
wealth around. He wants to take money from
folks who work hard and make more money,
and give it to folks who don't work as
hard and make less money. What a guy!
I read that the American Communist
party is happy to see that Obama may win
this election. That should be a clue to
where his heart is. Putting Obama in the
office of President will have the same
effect as asking the Russians or Chinese
to pick our judges. Won't that be fun.

Messiah

Louie Farrakhan calls Obama "Messiah. I guess
that makes it official. After listening to
Obama's rhetoric, I'm not sure if he will be a
messiah or a tzar. I know he wants to tax the
rich but the last time I looked it was the rich
that provided most of the jobs. Did you every
try to get a job from a middle class or poor
person.

As I said before I'm not too keen on McCain.
I don't think he has the grit to beat Obama,
but I'm ready to be proven wrong. Now I believe
Sarah Palin has the grit but she is not on the
top of the ticket. Socratease8

Debate

After watching the presidential debate
I have come to the conclusion that McCain
doesn't want to win. He had several chances
to make Obama look really bad but passed
them up. The one thing that kept popping
into my mind is that this inexperienced
clown may be the next president. If that
happens you will really have something
to worry about for your children and
grandchildren. The damage that this guy
will do to our way of life may be beyond
repair. The communist manifesto from the
1950's will have come full circle and
will look like a document of truth. The
communist said they would conquer the U.S.
from within. The judges that this guy will
pick and the socialist programs that he
will try to start will complete the
destruction of our way of life. It won't
have much effect on me, but my Kids and
their kids will pay the price.

There are two groups that I have seen on
television that turned my stomach. One was
a group of young girls singing the praises
of Obama in what looked like a school.
The other is a group of young black boys
dressed in military looking clothes marching
in step and shouting praises for Obama. This
is the kind of stuff that you see all the
time in China and North Korea. We may be
heading for a civil war.

Obama said that the economy has been
declining for the last 8 years. If McCain
had any guts he should have called Obama
a liar and pointed out that this country
had been attacked by terrorist and that
it took considerable resources to recover
from that. The economy was growing some,
until the democrats took over the congress.
That is when the gas prices doubled and
the housing market went away. The rest
is history.Socratease8

Back to Politics

Sarah Palin should start the debate with a
compliment for Joe Biden. She should tell
him that she has learned a lot from him. That
she didn't know that the television had been
around during the depression. Or that Franklin
Roosevelt was the president during the 1929
Wall Street crash. He became president in 1933.
She could say that those facts are not in her
history books. So it has been an education
listening to his speeches. I don't know if
Sarah is ready for prime time but there is
a lot of ammunition in Bidens speeches from
the past.

McCain has been a bit of a disappointment to
me. He should have a lot of guts after his
stay in a prison camp, but he is not showing
it. Maybe he doesn't know that you need to
prove that you have guts and grit everyday
of your life. You can't live on what happened
in the past. Right now he is acting like a
wimp. He needs to go after Obama with every
thing that he has. If not for himself, do it
for the American people. He is blowing this
election, because he wants to be mister nice
guy. There is no mister nice guy in politics.

Political Break

I took a few days off from the politics of the
day to visit two of my grandsons in Michigan.
We had a great visit and enjoyed the energy of
these two little tornadoes that seemed to move
through our space with great energy. We enjoyed
every second of the energy of these two little
forces that moved through our day.

It didn't take long to remember why we moved
from Michigan. Almost as soon as we entered the
state the sky's became cloudy and the roads
became one long speed bump. You would think that
with the amount of taxes that the state collects
it could at least fix the roads. We found out that
our son has to pay about $4000 property tax for a
house that he paid about $40,000 for that needs a
lot of repair. This is absurd but that is what
happens when you allow the democrats and unions to
take control of the state. The people of Michigan
need to wake up and get rid of the unions and
democrats. I was a union member for 35 years and
was a union official for 5 years. They made
promises to me that they didn't keep so I don't
have much use for them.

We have 5 more grand kids in Michigan but time and
circumstances didn't allow a visit this time.
Maybe in the future. Grand kids need to know
their grandparents.

We were back in the sun by the time we got back
to southern Ohio, and had good weather the rest
of the way home in Tennessee. Socratease8

Financial Mess

Well the red phone rang last night and McCain
answered it. Obama hit the snooze button.
It appears that a debate about a completely
different subject is what Obama wants. He
doesn't want to be part of the solution to
the financial problem. He would like it to
be an issue if he becomes president. He
thought he could win some political points
by refusing to get involved with the talks
about a solution to the crisis. President
Bush put him on the spot by calling him back
to DC to help with the solution. Makes sense
to me, one of these guys will be president in
January 09 so Bush left them with no wiggle
room. Plus these guys are Senators and it's
their job. That is something that Obama
apparently doesn't understand since his job
as senator has been to run for president.
President Clinton said that these problems
arose during his administration because the
congress would not pass controls for these
financial organizations.I'm beginning to
think President Clinton likes John McCain.

I hope folks are paying attention to the
Gulf region. There are Russian war ships
there for war exercises. The last time we
had an inexperienced president in office
the Russians thought they could deliver
missiles to Cuba after the Bay of Pigs
mess. Sabers are starting to rattle around
the world because we may have another
inexperienced president in that office.
We better stay ready to defend ourselves
if Obama becomes president. God help us.

Politicans

Wow, it was pointed out to me today that I am at
the end of my 7th decade, almost ready to start
my 8th decade. Boy do I feel wise now. Lookout
World and liberals!

We are now being told by the liberal political
machine that if Obama doesn't win the election
it is because of racial prejudice. I have
told liberal friends of mine that I would be
happy to vote for a black man for president if
he was qualified to be president. It is a severe
stretch to believe that Obama is qualified. This
guy has less experience than anyone that I
can remember in my almost 70 years of life on
this planet So I will not be voting for Obama.
I will be fighting to make sure this guy does
not win. He needs to go back to school and learn
a little more about the American way of life.
Most of us do not like socialism. It has
not worked in the parts of the world where it
has been tried, and it won't work here. There
are a lot of left-wingers who seem to like
the idea of socialism where 10% of the folks
work and provide the product and income and
90% sit on their asses and collect welfare
from the 10% who produce. That is not a good
system and won't last long.

If the politicians in office today knew the
contempt that I have for them they would not
want to be in the same room with me. The
democrats are below contempt and the republicans
are not a lot better. They don't have to be in
office very long before they can quit and draw
their full salary for the rest of their life.
We have to pay for that. Everyone who works and
pays taxes and everyone who is retired and pays
taxes have to support these loafers. There is
something wrong with this picture. It is time
for term limits and NO benefits when they leave
office!!Don't vote these rascals back in office.

Today I read some crap from a person named Tim Wise.
He tried to make me feel guilty about being white.
He has this theory on something called "White Privilege"
which is pure B.S. to most thinking people. This guy
is still pretty young so maybe as he gains experience
the fog that he lives in will lift and he will see
clearer. In my almost 7 decades on this earth I have
never felt guilty about my race. That may be because I
am part Native American and probably a few other races
thrown in. I also had an uncle who was half black. I
try to never judge people on their race.

The e-mail that I got with the article from this Wise
guy came in my e-mail yesterday so I have had some
time to find out about this jerk before posting. His
article was about Sarah Palin. I always get suspicious
when I get an e-mail from my left leaning friends, so
it was no surprise that this guy had nothing good to
say about Sarah. One of the things he didn't like about
Sarah is that she attended too many colleges to get her
degree. He didn't like the fact the she likes guns. He
seems to think that it scares people for her to have a
gun. He didn't like the fact that she has a pregnant
17 year old daughter. The list goes on but you get the
point.

To give you an idea of how I feel about Gov. Sarah Palin,
One of the things that I like about her most is the fact
that she is a life member of the NRA. I also like the fact
that she is not a baby killer. She is "Pro Life" not
"Pro Death". I like the fact that she is married to a
private pilot. She lives in a state that is 250 times
larger than Biden's state. She was a small town mayor so
she has an idea of how most people in this country think.
She is also a governor so she has a lot more experience
than Obama. What's not to like. Socratease8

Politics

It is a bit curious that Obama is running against
the Republican VP choice. Maybe he thinks that his
inexperience won't show as much. Boy is that a
miscalculation.
Obama has promised a tax increase. Even tho he has
said it would not effect folks that make under $250K.
It never quite works that way. You increase the taxes
on the people who run a large business or sells a
product that people need..guess who pays the tax. I
would rather see lower taxes and a lot less government
spending. If someone can promise me that they will
get my vote.
The Democrats seem to have a problem on their hands
with the popularity of Sarah Palin. McCain has taken
the lead in most of the poles. The Dems seem to be
panicking a bit and trying their best to find
something nasty on Gov Palin. Like I said they think
that Sarah is at the top of the Republican ticket.
I will watch this race close. It may be different
next week. Socretease8

Politics

It has been 500 years since I have been this
excited about an election. Sarah Palin has
made all the difference. The liberal media has
been trying to destroy her but it's not working.
How great is that. This young lady will some day
be our president. I can see her as the future
of the Republican party. She is the same age as
my daughter, so it's a bit hard to see her as
old enough to be the vice president, but that's
life. Now that I think about it, my daughter
would make a great vice president. Go figure.
I think it is time to turn over the reigns to
a new generation. They couldn't do any worse
than we have and may do a lot better. I am
glad tho, that John McCain will be there to
guide them through the tuff times. We are a
blessed nation. Socratease8

Politics

The speeches are finished and the stages are dark.
I watched John McCain except his parties nomination.
John is not the best speaker, but he sure does get
his point across. His life story is so much fuller
than Obama's that as far as I'm concerned there
is no contest. Cindy McCain will make the best first
lady we have ever had. I like her because she can
fly small airplanes. She also helps a lot of people
in need.
Obama can speak pretty good, but that will not make
him a great president. It won't even make him a
good or poor president. There needs to be some
history in that empty suit. Something to base your
decisions on. What I remember about Obama's story
is that he filled an empty seat in his church and
listened to a troubled soul for 20 years. He also
is friends with a terrorist and a crook. Dang, he
has made the choice easy. Socratease8

VEEP

Wow what a choice. I had planned to not vote for
John McCain, but now there is no doubt. I had
told my wife that I might vote for McCain if he
was smart enough to pick a woman for his VP
And what a woman he did pick. Sarah Palin is not
only easy to look at but she is also easy to listen
to. She has more experience in her little finger
than Obama has in his whole body. Hillary says
Obama's experience is one speech that he made
several years ago. Obama would take us down the
road to Marxism or Socialism and I am not ready
for that. Obama is a good talker but that is
all. An empty suit that speaks well.
NO THANK YOU. Socratease8

Politics again

It has been a couple weeks since my last post so
there is new stuff to talk about. The GREAT debate
at Saddleback church has taken place and in my
opinion it was a real yawner. McCain was well
rehearsed and knew what to say to please the conservative
audience. Obama on the other hand had to search for
his answers and even admitted that one answer was
above his pay grade. It was easy to see which
candidate has more life experience from which to
draw on for answers.

Pelosi says that Obama is a candidate sent by God.
Others have called him the Messiah. Surely God has
someone with a higher pay grade who can answer
a simple question about killing unborn babies. 40
million have died since the killing began. How
many will be enough. Sorry, I got a little off
the subject. I doubt that Obama is the Messiah.
Maybe I could believe that he is the Anti Messiah.
But I also doubt that..In my opinion he is just
a young fellow whose pay grade is not quite high
enough to be put into the most powerful position
in the world. We had a young inexperienced president
once before who nearly got us into WW3. I spent
many days at anchor on the floating white house
waiting for the Russians to bring missiles to Cuba.
We turned some back. We got lucky with that one
and ended the threat. I hope it doesn't happen
again. Socratease8

Energy

I have become convinced That the democrats and the
environdummies like the $4.00+ per gallon of gas.
It cuts the use of gas some, but the effect that it
has on poor folks is devastating. Also folks on a
fixed income are hurt. So much for the compassion
of democrats for low income people. I don't see much
compassion from the candidates for President, maybe
a little from McCain since he has changed his mind
on drilling for oil now.
I believe we need to use every source available to
us for our energy. Drilling now is a first step.
Solar is the next step along with wind , water and
maybe sources that are yet to be invented. Nuclear
of course will be very important if we want to
maintain our current standard of living. There is
very little evidence that man is warming our planet.
Over 31,000 scientist have been listed who refute
the idea of man made global warming. The UN only had
2500 scientist who believe in man made global warming.
I believe man made global warming is a scam and needs
to be refuted now before the government totally takes
over our lives. Don't vote for an incumbent. Socratease8

Death Penalty

One thing that has always been a mystery to me is how
the left can be against the death penalty for a murderer
and for the abortion of unborn kids. This may come as
a shock to some folks, but I am against both kinds of
death. Who gives us the right to say a child should not
be born. And if the murderer happens to be our son or
daughter or our mother or father would we still want
them to die. I think maybe not. My point is, if you are
against the death penalty for a murderer I believe you
should also be against the death of an unborn child.

Some folks may disagree with this assessment of the current Speaker of the House but I think she has been the most ineffective leader in my lifetime. Politicans

I am usually a pretty positive guy, but with the politics of today is is almost impossible to be positive. I do work on it daily so most of the time I present a positive image. A fellow once ask me where we would get our statesmen if we had term limits for our politicians. My question is, please name one true statesman in the last 20 years. I can't an neither could he. A statesman does not have to be a politician.

Bush has been blamed for everything that is bad in our society today. High gas prices, bad economy, global warming, ugly people, fat people and bad attitudes. If President Bush could make all that true he would have more power than God. The President finally woke up and lifted the ban on drilling for oil. Now if the congress would do the same, The price of gas would start to come down. The democrats say that if we start to drill today it would take 5-10 years to see a return. That is what they said 10 years ago. Does anybody see a problem with this attitude. If we don't start to drill NOW they will say the same thing in 5 years. "Don't vote for an incumbent!!" This is a sad day for many conservatives . Tony Snow died today at the age of 53. He will be missed by many. He is one of the few people who I would exchange my remaining years to give him a few more years on earth. I remember him from the Detroit News many years ago as a columnist. I read him often. He reminds me of Superman who said "I never Lie". Earth's loss is Heavens gain. God speed Tony Snow.

I know this will be hard for many of you to believe, but most of the empty suits in the congress are going to run for re-election. I can't think of anything that they have done that would entice me to vote for any of them. If I was a Democrat I would be embarrassed and if I was a Republican I would be very upset at their lack of guts to fight the Dems every chance they get. These airheads are the reason gas is so high and the economy is in the tank! McCain and Obama should be on the same ticket so that we could vote against both of them with one vote. Don't vote for an incumbent. Maybe, just maybe take a look at Bob Barr. Socratease8

The environdummies are at it again. Now they say that the North Pole may be without ice this year. I think it's another scare tactic hoping we will let the government tax us more for our carbon footprint. The arctic has about 3 million more sq kilometers of ice this year at the end of June than it had last year at this same time. Last year the arctic ended up with about 3 million sq kilometers of ice. If things happen about the same this year as last year the arctic will end up with about 6 million sq kilometers of ice.

I'm beginning to think that this is not a good year to be a Democrat. They took over the congress with a promise to fix the gas problem. I'm not liking the fix that they gave us. There probably will be plenty gas because a lot of the folks can't afford it anymore. The congress will be able to buy gas because they will just give themselves a pay raise to offset the added cost. It's not a good year to be a Republican either. I think it is time for term limits. Two terms with NO benefits after they leave the congress. Now they will have to live with the laws they passed. I think they will be a lot more careful what they sign their name to.

Update

Shortly after I started this blog I had a major computer breakdown.
I had some spyware and a virus that took over my system. I had to format the harddrive and reload windows XP.. Bummer
I have been accused and have admitted to being a curmudgeon sometimes so when I got the
unsolicited software I was not pleased. I am still loading programs that went away because of the
reformating of my drive. It will be a few days before I get this site organized. Socratease8

This blog will be about things that I am interested in. I will post opinions about politics and current events and maybe add some music and photos of interest to me and hopefully to other folks. This will be a fun and interesting site as it grows. Socratease
